Our first natural Ethiopian coffee of 2021 is one full of blueberry juiciness.
This coffee is named after the village where it was harvested. Metad, the owner of Alaka washing station, created an out-growers programme in 2013 by providing free seedlings and training at any stage of production to local coffee producers.
This region is unique due to its diversity of landscape micro-climate. Its altitude might even be higher than other regions, which is a key fact to produce more complex coffee.
This particular lot is a natural processed coffee that was dried on raised beds for weeks. This process transfers more sweetness from the coffee pulp to the seeds, which provides more floral and blueberry flavour notes in the cup. It’s a versatile coffee that’s suitable for espresso, filter or cold brew.
*PRICE TO PRODUCERThis is defined as the price paid to either the coffee producer who grows and processes their own coffee or the entity overseeing the primary post-harvest process. the UDS/lb calculation relates to the volume of exported green coffee.

We create a new and unique profile for each coffee we roast. Although the profiles are different, our approach is always the same, to highlight and accentuate the flavours created at the farm and mill. This means we don't label our coffees as espresso, filter, dark or light roast. All of our coffees are omni-roast, meant to be delicious however you brew. We believe the heart of speciality is keeping the identity and character of every coffee intact and alive, no matter the brew method.
